Charles Middleton World War II diary, 1941-1944.

The typescript diary of Charles Middleton, Company D, 297th Infantry, describes Middleton's military experiences in Alaska from 22 November 1941, the day of his U.S. Army physical in Fairbanks to 6 April 1944, two weeks before he was due to rotate out of the territory. It includes information on training, military and social activities, and fellow soldiers in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Talkeetna, and particularly on Saint Paul Island. The text is accompanied by well-identified photographs and a hand-drawn map of Saint Paul Island.
